Have a hell fun time . . .got a grand tour – saw cool stuff although I cannot talk about some of it due to NDA. The marketing guys at Nvidia loved the build. Here are some pictures of the trip.
Just have to add the two 1 Terabyte hard drives generously donated by Western Digital (I ❤ WD . . .just check out the raid 0+1 array of four WD Velociraptors in my clinic Skulltrail server via the builds and mods link). Thanks for Performance PCs for all the stuff I needed to get the sleeving done!!!
I wanted to finish this project so here it is:
Only an Asus Xtreme motherboard with it’s plethora of over-clocking abilities and and performance features that are not only present but also transparent, is worthy of this build. The system will be animatronic and will open up when in performance-mode to give the liquid-cooling system the additional air-flow it needs to keep up with the Asus over-clocking.
Blade is sort of a group project. I enlisted a modder buddy, email@example.com, to design a Blade-themed case. He took my basic idea and really ran with it (putting in over 300 hours of highly-professional work).
The rig will be two gaming rigs in one case with a removable file server on the top. The shape of the build is a cross. The arms of the cross contain two 20″ LCD monitors in the ‘top’ and ‘bottom’ arm of the cross. When the rig is turned on the cross arms turn to gaming mode by rotating 90 degree so you can see two monitors from the front and two from the back. The tower portion of the case has a radiator box that moves forward, rotates to display the Blade’s sword with the radiator behind it (fan grills made from polished aluminum bars will be between the rad and sword and will look like the grill on Blade’s car).
Talking it up to PDXLAN now
Time to get the Nvidia/Intel/Crucial/Danger Den/Silverstone/Performance PCs/Smooth Creations/Out of the Box Mods charity build completed. It will be auctioned off with proceeds going for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. MUST have the build done by the end of the weekend.
My buddy, Paul, from Nvidia asked me months ago if I would do a mod for a charity (the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society). How could I say no. At the time we both thought it would just be a modest build and might raise a little money for a good cause. Well, things sort of went beyond what we thought with all sorts of vendors helping out. Here is a list:
Nvidia: Single PCB 295 GPU (I will have to ask who the AIB was), 3d Stereo glasses kit, Samsung 22″ 3d Stereo monitor (thanks to Samsung as well)
Danger Den: Double-wide Tower case, full water-cooling including two Black Ice SR1 360 rads, pump, GPU block with custom green top, MC-TDX block with custom green top
Intel: 975 Extreme Edition Proc
Crucial: Two 256 gig SSDs and 12 gigs Green DDR3 Ballistix Tracer ram
Asus: Rampage II Gene mobo
Silverstone: Strider 1 K PSU
Performance PCs: ALL the accessories and custom sleeving services
Smooth Creations: One killer paint job on case, rads, psu
Got my first tattoo 1/3 done – will have the tentacles coming from all sides and wrapping over shoulder and around arm, will also have termination points that end up like borg implants attached to body. Color still to be added. Also will have UV colors in it eventually
Please view with anaglyph glasses. I am the silly-looking guy with his arms crossed in front
Nvidia booth and such:
CPU Mad Reader Mod Contest
PAX was a blast! Fletch and I worked the Nvidia booth all three days. I must say the NVidia people are fun to work with and hang out with (we also had a cool guy from EA games on staff as well). We had my American Flag build on display which was a plus for me.
